200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Dharamshala, India

There are moments in life when we must choose ourselves……..

It has occurred to me that too often we postpone things that pull on our heartstrings because we “aren’t ready” or “it’s just not the right timing.” There are numerous of excuses we have told ourselves to keep us from taking that leap.  But the truth is, even if we may not feel ready, we in fact, always are.

See, if you keep waiting until you are ready to get married, ready to move across the country, ready to have children, or ready to travel to a far away land, you may never actually do it.  How do we even know when or if we are ready?

Once you decide to take that leap, however, you are choosing to be ready.  Like Paulo Coehlo says, “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”  And once you make that choice, things begin to align themselves accordingly.  Perhaps a post on social media or a conversation will reinforce your intention.  You may even experience auspicious encounters or moments.  A friend or even a stranger may possibly come to your aid or present an opportunity related to your commitment.  The possibilities are endless!!

So decide today that you are ready to pack your bags for India and take that yoga teacher training you have been dreaming about.

Here’s a few reasons why this is the right time to do so:

1.  It’s INDIA!

I can speak personally about the power and beauty of Mother India.  I’ve traveled to various places within the country, and what I have learned is that She will always surprise you, delight you and excite you.  She will keep you on your toes and fill your nostrils with scents you’ve only smelled in your wildest dreams.  Devotion is everywhere you look.  The streets are an artist’s palate, with colors so vivid, so bright, it is as if the people and structures are permanently glowing.  The food will imprint itself on your palate and the people will imprint themselves in your heart.

“Guests are God” in India, and you will be treated as such.  Even those who have nothing will offer you chai, perhaps a meal, and always a smile.

2.  You get to live in the mountains for a month!

Dharamshala, India is a friendly, small temple town located on the upper border of India in the North.  The location of Shree Hari Yoga School is near Bhagsu, just above in the mountains, away from the town lights and hustle and bustle.  The yoga sala, which Hari designed, is breathtaking.

I spent 2 months in Dharamshala in April of 2015, and I can attest to its tranquil and cozy atmosphere.  Where ever you lay your head at night, you will most certainly feel the clean mountain air first thing on your way to breakfast or yoga practice in the morning.  The mountains above where the Dalai Llama lives is a perfect temperature for those warms days and the sunsets radiate spectacular hues of red, pink, purple and orange.

Morever, it is a perfect location to study the practice of yoga, allowing you to deepen your connection to your studies whilst enveloped in Mother Nature’s beauty that surrounds you every day.

3.  Hari Ji!

There is a quote we all know by Flavia Weedn that says, “Some people come into our lives and quickly go.  Some stay for a while, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never, ever the same.”  This is how I feel about Hari Ji.

During my 2 week stay in Dharamshala, I practiced yoga under Hari’s instruction.  Within that time, I was exposed to traditional Hatha yoga, which I had not tried before.  I enjoyed this version of asana practice, and what took me by surprise was how much I improved my back bends and inversions in such a short period of time.

Additionally, Hari taught me valuable pranayam exercises that I still use in my practice today.  It was just a taste of his wisdom and grace, but I immediately knew that I had to find my way back to him eventually.

Since I left Hari’s studio in Dharamshala a year and a half ago, I have been splitting my time living in Thailand and The United States.  As I continued to follow my own path as a yoga teacher and practicioner, the lessons of Hari did not leave me.  In fact, they only grew stronger and I yearned to embark on another journey with him.

I knew I had responsibilities in Thailand that I could not ignore.  I kept telling myself, “You’re not ready to go back to India yet.  You just don’t have the time and money right now.  And you have to focus on your project in Thailand.”  But each time I practiced yoga, I felt this undeniable urge to strengthen my practice back in India with Hari.  So I just did it. I made up my mind that it was time to go back, and now I will be continuing my studies under Hari Ji in next spring, bringing my dream to reality!

I am not the only one who has been fortunate enough to have had Hari as a teacher.  You can read reviews from other students on his website (see link below), proving just how special this man is and how dedicated he is to sharing his intelligence, craft and love for yoga with anyone who wants to learn!

So there you have it, fellow yogis and yogis-to-be.
