Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training

Founded by a well known and respected yogi K. Pattabhi Jois, Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a practice that syncs the breath and movements into a flowing sequence of asanas.

It is designed to calm the mind, ease the body and to bring awareness of your true self. On regular practice, it will help in increasing strength, flexibility, stamina and endurance.

It is a form of moving meditation where the poses flow from one sequence to another, holding each for a few breaths. This system of yoga can be very therapeutic if practiced mindfully and in a way that supports each individual.

This sequential performance of asanas helps in opening the channels of energy in your mind and body and prepares it for the next pose.

Ashtanga and Vinyasa are two different ancient terms, having different meanings. So before getting any further let’s first understand what ashtanga and vinyasa yoga is.

Ashtanga Vs Vinyasa Yoga: All that you need to know

Okay, so there might be a lot of questions in your mind right now, like how ashtanga yoga is different from vinyasa yoga? or Are they correlated by any means? Don’t worry, we’ll make it simple for you!

Traditionally, Ashtanga yoga is performed in a series of fixed postures meant to energize you from within. It follows a series of postures in a specific order and you must master one before moving on to the next one.

What is ashtanga yoga

Ashtanga yoga will help you cope with emotional situations, go through the pain and conquer them.

The balance in your emotions will let your organs and your entire body work more efficiently and you will discover how powerfully your body and mind are connected.

What is vinyasa yoga

Vinyasa yoga is an age-old practice where sequential postures are performed in the form of series. It connects one posture in the sequence to the next by using the breath.

It is also known as the flow yoga as it smoothly transitions from one pose to another using a deep breathing technique called ujjayi breath.

This breathing technique is achieved by inhaling and exhaling in a rhythmic way throughout the sequence, building a flowing link between the breath and movement.

Usually, the breath is not held during the Vinyasa practice except during Surya Namaskar (i.e Sun Salutations). This practice of breath management can be a really great means to overcome both physical as well as mental problems.
